Beer Revenue
Gross Beer Sales Reported
TABC reports gross beer receipts monthly by permit holder. VenueIQ indexes these against permit type and venue format to produce a beer revenue rank within channel and market.
Wine Revenue
Gross Wine Sales Reported
Wine receipts are reported separately and tracked by permit class — a winery permit, a wine-only retailer, and a mixed beverage licensee are scored within their own peer group.
Spirits Revenue
Gross Spirits Sales Reported
Mixed beverage receipts capture spirits revenue at on-premise accounts. This is the highest-revenue category for most bars and restaurants and the primary ranking driver for VIP on-premise accounts.
Understanding the data

Receipts, estimated tax, and total sales — what each number means

TABC reports one number: gross alcohol receipts. VenueIQ derives an estimated state tax obligation and an estimated total sales figure from that single public data point.

1 — TABC Receipts
What the state sees
$1,450,000
Every Mixed Beverage permit holder files gross alcohol sales with TABC monthly — beer, wine, and spirits combined. This is the raw public record VenueIQ indexes.
PUBLIC · MONTHLY · PERMIT-LEVEL
2 — Est. TX State Tax
Revenue flowing to the state
$97,150
Receipts × 6.7% TX mixed beverage rate. This is an estimate — county and municipal rates vary and can add to this. This is not revenue the venue keeps.
RECEIPTS × 6.7% STATE RATE
3 — Est. Total F&B Sales
Full revenue estimate
$3,625,000
Alcohol is ~40% of total F&B revenue at most Mixed Beverage venues. Dividing receipts by 40% gives an estimated total sales figure — food plus beverage combined.

Permit Channel Architecture

TABC permit type defines the channel — and the revenue benchmark

A Mixed Beverage permit and a Package Store permit report revenue differently and compete in completely different markets. VenueIQ scores them separately so every comparison is fair.

On-Premise — Mixed Beverage
Bars, Restaurants, Hotels, Clubs

Mixed Beverage permit holders report gross receipts by category monthly. This is the primary revenue signal for on-premise accounts — a venue's total beer, wine, and spirits intake is their TABC receipt total.

MBR

MB+

Off-Premise — Package & Retail
Liquor Stores, Grocery, C-Store, Club

Package Store and retail permit holders report sales receipts reflecting off-premise consumer purchase volume. Revenue benchmarks vary significantly by format — independents and chain doors are scored within their own peer group.

Chain Accounts — Banner + Door Level

Chain permit holders are aggregated at the banner level first, then ranked by individual location. Each door's TABC receipts are benchmarked against the chain average and against the local market.

Regional & Independent
Local Chains, Independents, Single-Door

Independent venues and local chains are the velocity engine in most Texas markets. VenueIQ ranks them within their DMA and permit class — surfacing the fastest-growing independents as high-priority targets.

Data Insights

What TABC receipts tell you that scan data doesn't

TABC receipt data is public, monthly, and permit-level — meaning you see total revenue at every venue in Texas, not just the accounts your distributor happens to report on.

Revenue Trajectory vs. Peer
A venue growing 15% MoM while their permit-class peers are flat is an acceleration signal. VenueIQ flags these so you show up with a reason to invest — not just a reorder.
Permit Revenue Decline Alert
When a VIP account's TABC receipts drop two months running, it's a leading indicator of a lost placement or a competitive shift — not just a slow month. VenueIQ surfaces the decline early.
White Space by DMA
Cross every active TABC permit against revenue performance. Every permit you're not serving is a gap — ranked by revenue trajectory so you prioritize the right doors first.
Category Mix Intelligence
A venue reporting high beer receipts but low spirits is a spirits conversion opportunity. VenueIQ tracks category mix per permit and flags accounts where your category is underrepresented.
New Permit Detection
New permits issued by TABC appear in VenueIQ before they reach any distributor system. First-call advantage on a new Mixed Beverage permit in a high-growth corridor is a meaningful edge.
Revenue Consistency Signal
A venue that files every month and holds steady receipts is a more reliable account than one with volatile reporting. VenueIQ surfaces consistency as a scored metric so you know which accounts to protect.
